The silver screen's silver hair boom

From BBC News:

Have you noticed a lot more grey-haired leading men and ladies in the movies lately? Well, you're not alone. This is called the Marigold Effect, which began with the success of 2012's The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, starring Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Bill Nighy who are all in their sixties and seventies.

Other recent movies with older actors include:

  • Philomena (Judi Dench)
  • Mamma Mia (Meryl Streep)
  • Amour (Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva)
  • Quartet (Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Michael Gambon)
  • Escape Plan (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone)
